Severe thunderstorm watch

The National Weather Service says thunderstorms are likely throughout the day Friday, and that some of them might be severe enough to cause flooding and tornadoes.

High winds are expected to be the worst danger in northern Indiana and northwest Ohio, the weather service said.

A severe thunderstorm watch was in effect until 8 a.m. Friday for the Indiana counties of DeKalb, Kosciusko, Noble, LaGrange, Steuben, Lake, LaPorte Marshall, Newton, Porter, Pulaski, St. Joseph, Starke, Elkhart, Fulton, and Jasper.

The severe thunderstorm warning has been canceled for the following areas:

  • Central Wells County
  • Southeastern Allen County
  • Southeastern Defiance County
  • Southeastern Henry County
  • Southeastern Paulding County
At 6:55 a.m., the National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated that the line of severe thunderstorms that prompted the warning had moved out and no longer posed an immediate threat to life or property.
