Toddler rescued from Wabash reservoir

A 3-year-old boy was retrieved from Salamonie Reservoir in Wabash County after a near-drowning Wednesday night, according to Indiana conservation officers.

The incident was reported just after 8 p.m. The boy was swimming, along with several other children who were being supervised by two adults, Indiana Conservation Officer Jon Engle said.

One of the children had not been seen for about 3 minutes when one of the adults began to search for him. The boy was found in the water, and an adult began performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the child immediately, Engle said.

The boy was transported by medical helicopter to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne. His condition and name were not available Wednesday night.
