Shooting victim identified

The victim in Tuesday’s shooting at Lafayette Street and Dalman Avenue has been identified as Ambrose R. English, 20, of Fort Wayne.

Fort Wayne police said he remained in serious condition Wednesday.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact Crime Stoppers at 436-7867 or 1-800-237-7867.

A pickup truck driver pulled alongside English’s vehicle and opened fire just before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Multiple shots were fired from the white pickup, which was heading north as it weaved in and out of traffic on Lafayette. Some of the shots struck English’s northbound Buick Century, police said Tuesday.

English then headed west, stopping in the driveway of a home in the 3100 block of South Calhoun Street. He was taken inside, where he sat on a couch until paramedics arrived. In the driveway, the Buick sat riddled with at least five bullet holes and a shattered passenger-side window.
