A new front has opened in the battle between Perez Hilton and the Black Eyed Peas manager accused of hitting him: a civil lawsuit.

The celebrity blogger (born Mario Lavandeira) sued the Peas’ manager Wednesday for battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress. He is seeking unspecified damages of $25,000.

The suit says Hilton is seeking to protect his rights to free speech and claims Polo Molina attacked him because he criticized the Black Eyed Peas’ new album.

Molina was arrested Monday after he allegedly punched Hilton after an argument between the blogger and Peas leader will.i.am. Molina is due in court Aug. 5.

TLC hit heads for hiatus

While Jon and Kate Gosselin begin to sort out the pieces of their broken marriage, “Jon & Kate Plus 8” is taking a break.

A day after the couple revealed their divorce to 10.6 million viewers, a record for TLC, the network said the program would go on hiatus until Aug. 3 to give the Gosselins time to “regroup,” TLC said.

The network said a retrospective of Jon and Kate’s 10-year marriage would air Monday.

N.J. ‘wife’ fights sex tape

A star of Bravo’s TV series “Real Housewives of New Jersey” went to court Wednesday to avoid getting more exposure.

A judge granted Danielle Staub’s request for a temporary restraining order to stop ex-boyfriend Stephen Zalewski from releasing a sexually explicit videotape and images of her. State Superior Court Judge Thomas F. Brogan ordered Zalewski to produce all copies of the video and pictures of Staub and set a hearing for July 21.

Staub, 46, claimed she was unaware Zalewski was taping her.

Opry welcoming duo

Montgomery Gentry has been inducted into the Grand Ole Opry.

After singing hits “My Town” and “Something to Be Proud Of,” the duo received a membership award from Opry members Little Jimmy Dickens and Marty Stuart on Tuesday.

Troy Gentry said he didn’t have the words to describe how much the induction means to him and Eddie Montgomery, who debuted their southern rock in 1999.

TV co-host defends book

“The View” co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck says a claim that she plagiarized parts of her best-selling diet book is “without merit.”

Hasselbeck defended her book “The G-Free Diet: A Gluten-Free Survival Guide” on Wednesday, speaking to the camera before the first break on the ABC show.

Susan Hassett, an author on Cape Cod, alleges in the lawsuit filed in Massachusetts that Hasselbeck lifted content from her book on celiac disease “word for word.” It doesn’t cite specific examples.

The lawsuit also says the books have a similar organization and chapter format.
