UTV rollover leads to theft suspect

An Arctic Cat utility terrain vehicle stolen from the Milford Street Department parking lot rolled over this morning and a suspect is behind bars, police said.

Richard Vesley Wilson, 23, of the 900 block of North Old Orchard Drive in Warsaw, was preliminarily charged with felony theft, Town Marshal Rich Miotto said in a written statement.

Miotto said he responded to a 911 call about a rollover crash near the intersection of Kosciusko County Road 100 East and County Road 1250 North, just east of town.

The marshal found the double-seat utility vehicle with no one around, and he learned shortly afterward that it was stolen from the parking lot and belongs to a town employee.

Officers from Milford, Syracuse, the county sheriff’s department, Indiana State Police and Indiana Conservation Officers converged on the area to search for the driver.

Members of the Milford Fire Department located Wilson near County Road 175 East and Beer Road, the statement said.

He was being held in the Kosciusko County Jail on $2,000 bond.
