Indiana will meet Pittsburgh in the second game of the 2009 Jimmy V Classic on Dec. 8 in Madison Square Garden in New York. "My wife and I are contributors to the V Foundation and it is an honor for us to participate in the Jimmy V Classic," IU coach Tom Crean said in a statement. "This is annually one of the premiere events in college basketball and it is always exciting to take a team to Madison Square Garden. We have great respect for the Pittsburgh program."
This is the Hoosiers second appearance in the event. IU defeated North Carolina 82-73 in 1999. Indiana holds a 4-3 record against Pittsburgh. The Panthers won the last meeting, 74-52, in the second round of the 2003 NCAA tournament. The Hoosiers are 8-8 all-time at Madison Square Garden. They will make their first trip to the venue since the 2001 Preseason NIT. The game will be on ESPN.
