Indiana will meet Pittsburgh in the second game of the 2009 Jimmy V Classic on Dec. 8 in Madison Square Garden in New York. Butler faces Georgetown in the opening contest at 7 p.m.
"My wife and I are contributors to the V Foundation, and it is an honor for us to participate in the Jimmy V Classic," IU coach Tom Crean said in a statement.
"This is annually one of the premiere events in college basketball, and it is always exciting to take a team to Madison Square Garden. We have great respect for the Pittsburgh program."
Indiana holds a 4-3 record against Pittsburgh.
Butler will face Georgetown for the first time. Both games will be on ESPN.

Carroll senior Bryce Feller (Class 4A) and Westview senior Nic Mishler (Class 2A) were named first team all-state. Westview also had three players listed as honorable mention: sophomore Zac Mishler, senior Austin Haney and senior Adam Christner. In Class A, Canterbury's Cam Squires and Lakewood Park's Casey Weaver were honorable mention. Wawasee's Jose Rodriguez and Jake Sommers joined Leo's Kyle Miller and Norwell's Bryce Murphy on the Class 3A honorable mention list. In Class 4A, Homestead senior Chuck Weaver and Snider's Drake Everson were honorable-mention selections.
Kroger Co. announced a five-year deal to be an official sponsor for the Indiana Fever. The deal includes advertising on television, radio, print, billboards and the Internet. Kroger also has a deal with the Indiana Pacers.
Alexis Arguello was found dead in Managua, Nicaragua. Arguello, 57, was elected mayor of Managua last year. He was found with a gunshot to the chest. Arguello retired in 1995 with an 82-8 record and was a three-division champion.
Running back Matt Perez has made an oral commitment to play at Indiana. The Maine South (Park Ridge, Ill.) product, who is 5-foot-11 and 200 pounds, is the ninth recruit in the Hoosiers' 2010 class.
Vinnie Lang is the new coach of Trine's men's lacrosse program. Lang previously coached Gilmour Academy in suburban Cleveland. He also has coached at Mercyhurst, Wittenberg and Dayton and has a 64-68 all-time record. Lang played at Purdue.
The U.S. is allowed to expand its roster for the CONCACAF Gold Cup by seven players to 30 because the U.S. team is coming off the Confederations Cup. Teams can dress 18 players. The U.S. opens Saturday against Grenada at Seattle.
