Katie Holmes thinks she can dance. Nigel Lythgoe, producer of Foxs So You Think You Can Dance, confirms the actress, 30, will perform on the reality contests 100th episode July 23.
Holmes will pay homage to Judy Garland; in a taped number, shell sing and dance to Get Happy.
Holmes TV cameo is meant to promote Dizzy Feet, a foundation she launched with Lythgoe and Dancing With the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba. Dizzy Feet supports dance education and dancers who cant afford training.
Hilary Duff, 21, is joining the cast of Gossip Girl. The CW series spokeswoman, Melissa Burton, says the singer-actress will guest-star as a movie star looking for a typical college experience.
Duffs character, Olivia Burke, enrolls at New York University and is roomies with hipster Vanessa. Burton says Olivia will spark a romance with aspiring novelist Dan (Penn Badgley), Vanessas friend and ex-crush.
Season 3 debuts Sept. 14. Duff begins her arc Oct. 5.
James Frey is now writing for young people.
Frey, a former screenwriter best known for his discredited memoir A Million Little Pieces, is collaborating on a four-book series of teen science-fiction novels that HarperCollins will publish. Screen rights for the first novel, I Am Number Four, have been acquired by Transformers director Michael Bay.
Freys co-author is Jobie Hughes, a graduate from the creative writing program at Columbia University.
ABCs new drama The Forgotten may have found a leading man.
Christian Slater is in talks with the network about starring in the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced series, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show is about an ex-cop who works with a group of amateur detectives on cases involving anonymous victims.
The Forgotten debuts Sept. 22.
Missing Nip/Tuck? Or Sons of Anarchy or Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia? All three FX dramas will return, the cable network said.
Sons of Anarchy returns at 10 p.m. Sept. 8. The fifth season of Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia begins at 10 p.m. Sept. 17 and will have a 12-episode run. And Nip/Tuck returns for its sixth, penultimate season, with 10 episodes, in October.
Colombian pop star Shakira, 32, says that after her latest album is born she plans to undertake a new labor: multiple children. The Grammy winner says she plans to focus on a family after October, when her as-yet-unnamed album is to be released.
Shakira says she wants two kids, while boyfriend Antonio de la Rua would like three.
For now, Shakiras baby is her new single, Loba – Spanish for She-Wolf – which she released this week.
