Verbatim: Credit union collects items for soldiers

Statement issued Friday:

Starting July 6th thru July 31st, MidWest America Federal Credit Union will be collecting items for soldiers. Last year, the Credit Union sent more than 40 boxes overseas.

"Sending these care packages reminds our troops that they are not forgotten and that our country stands behind their efforts. Consider picking up an extra item or two on your next trip to the grocery. These much needed supplies are not readily available to them," commented Greg Mohr, President/CEO.

MidWest America will assemble items and ship the care packages to as many soldiers as possible. Monetary donations will also be accepted to purchase any remaining items not collected and will be used help offset the cost of shipping the care packages.

Various items are needed such as:

  • Lip balm, sunblock, lotion
  • Personal/baby wipes
  • Shaving cream, razors, aftershave
  • Toothpaste, toothbrushes, mouthwash
  • Shampoo, conditioner, body wash
  • Footpowder, socks
  • Deodorant, facial cleansers, (facial tissue)
  • Hard candy, gum, canned foods (tuna, chicken)
  • Beef jerky, breakfast bars, etc.
  • Powdered drink mixes or anything made with water such as Ramen Noodles
  • Books, movies, games, puzzles
* Please do not send any aerosol items or items that contain alcohol.
