So I go away on vacation for three weeks and the world pretty much erupts, both Notre Dame-wise and in the land of celebrity.
Since I've been gone, Joseph Fauria transferred, Notre Dame picked up a boatload of commitments for football, Sean Kearney became a head coach, Martin Ingelsby became a full-time assistant coach and all of that is just with Notre Dame.
Michael Jackson died. So did Farrah Fawcett. And Billy Mays. And Karl Malden. And the beginning of the end of my youth, as I remember playing MJ's 'Bad' record on the Fisher-Price record player I had in the basement of my Long Island home.
Ahh, memories, I will enjoy them.
Also, an important announcement is coming later today here at Insights, so pop back in for that.
As you remember things today -- and MJ's memorial service is going on today -- check out these links:
- Is Vinny Zollo interested in playing basketball for Notre Dame?
- Former Notre Dame lineman Mike Rosenthal is now behind the mic in Texas, writes Al Lesar in the South Bend Tribune.
- Doug Biolchini owns a cool shop in Bend, Ore., and it was written about. Doug studied art history at Notre Dame, or so he says.
- This is old, but Paul Manieri won the College World Series with LSU. Mainieri, of course, coached at Notre Dame before leaving for Baton Rouge.
- Notre Dame swimmer Maggie Behrens is getting ready for the national championships this month.
