2 men held in Warsaw robbery

Two men were arrested Wednesday after they robbed a Warsaw drugstore, police said.

Warsaw police said two men entered Zale's Drug Store at 1775 E. Center St. just after 3 p.m. Wednesday with a note demanding painkilling narcotics - OxyContin and methadone.

The two men were given the drugs by employees and then left in a sport utility vehicle.

A description of the suspects and their getaway vehicle was broadcast by police dispatchers.

An off-duty officer in his police cruiser saw two men matching the description and stopped them near Cook and Arthur streets in Warsaw, police said.

Warsaw residents Jamey Roberts, 23, and Troy Craig, 42, both face preliminary charges of robbery.

Both were being held without bail.

Fire destroys home in rural LaGrange

A northern LaGrange County home was deemed a total loss Tuesday after a fire, according to Orland Community volunteer firefighters.

According to firefighters, the blaze at 9435 E. County Road 750 North in Mongo was reported about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Three children and one adult were in the home at the time and escaped unharmed, firefighters said.

Three pet birds died in the fire, which left the home a total loss. The fire started in a bedroom and was ruled accidental.
