A Bryan, Ohio, man has been arrested, accused of intentionally running over a woman and leaving her there.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Jennifer L. Crowder, 39, of West Unity, Ohio, was arguing Monday with the driver of a 1996 Dodge pickup truck on U.S. 20 about 2 miles southwest of Pioneer, Ohio, when she asked him to stop and let her out.

The patrol said James C. Kidd, 46, of Bryan, placed the truck in reverse as she was walking away, struck her and then drove away.

Crowder was able to crawl to a nearby home for assistance, the patrol said, and had a broken hip, pelvis, ribs and internal injuries. She was first taken to Bryan Hospital and then flown to St. Vincent Hospital in Toledo.

Police knew the pickup’s left rear tail light assembly and tire were damaged, but could not immediately locate the suspect.

The patrol later determined that the truck became disabled at some point on Williams County Road 12, a short distance from the scene of the attack. It said alcohol and pills were found later in the weeds by troopers. The vehicle itself was later located in Elkhart, Ind., and was seized with help from Indiana State Police.

Kidd was arrested Thursday at a residence in Bryan and was being held Friday in the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio on a charge of felonious assault. The patrol said more charges are pending.

Bryan police assisted with the arrest, the patrol said.
