The driver of a 1990 Chevrolet Corvette was killed Thursday night in a one-vehicle crash on U.S. 127 in Defiance County, Ohio, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Philip C. Wagner, 38, of Sherwood, Ohio, was southbound on U.S. 127 at 9:50 p.m. near Ney-Williams Center Road when the car left the right side of the highway, police said. The car overturned after striking an embankment and tree, Police said Wagner was wearing a seat belt.
Wagner died at the scene, according to Defiance County Coroner Dr. Paul Brose. The Corvette was severely damaged, police said.
Assisting the Ohio State Highway Patrol were the Defiance County Sheriff's Office, Sherwood Police Department, Ney Fire Department, Sherwood Fire Department and Promedica Life Flight.
The crash remains under investigation.
