Justin Hodgman, who had two short stints with the Fort Wayne Komets and was selected as the International Hockey League's Playoff MVP in 2008, has signed a one-year contract with the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs.
He had nine goals and 17 points in 17 games last spring, during the regular season and playoffs combined, helping the Komets to their second straight Turner Cup.
The IceHogs are the top minor-league affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks. Hodgman had played in a rookie camp with the Blackhawks earlier this summer.
Rockford officials said Hodgman, a center, could split time between the AHL and Toledo of the ECHL.
