A Garrett man is expected to face preliminary charges after driving his car the wrong way on Interstate 69 on Sunday morning, according to DeKalb County Police.
Police were called to a one-vehicle crash scene just after 1 a.m. Sunday. David Boltz Jr., 22, was driving a Ford Escort south on the interstate, just south of Waterloo, when he lost control of his car while trying to pass another vehicle, police said. Boltz drove through the median, crossed into the northbound lane and struck a ditch, causing the car to roll over twice, landing on its roof, police said.
Boltz suffered cuts and scrapes in the crash but was able to walk away from it, police said.
Preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and driving left of center are expected to be filed against Boltz - who had a blood-alcohol level of 0.19 percent, according to police.
