3 meth arrests in traffic stop

Three people were arrested Monday on methamphetamine-related charges, according to Kosciusko County sheriff’s deputies.

A Winona Lake police officer stopped a driver with a known warrant about midnight Sunday at Center and Reed streets in Warsaw. That driver, Jennifer Cole, 31, of Warsaw, faces preliminary charges of possession of meth, possession of meth-making materials and manufacturing meth. She was being held without bail at the Kosciusko County Jail.

A police dog found several meth-making materials in the car, deputies said. In addition, two passengers in the vehicle were arrested.

Daniel Shepherd, 37, of Pierceton, is charged with possession of meth-making materials and manufacturing meth. He was being held in lieu of $10,000 bail. Jonathan Shepherd, 18, of Lexington, Ky., is charged with possession of meth. He was being held in lieu of $2,000 bail.

Ex-worker charged in ATM theft scam

A Fort Wayne man faces a formal theft charge on accusations he stole more than $43,000 by making fraudulent ATM withdrawals, according to Allen County Superior Court records filed Monday.

David Harman Jr., 29, of the 1000 block of Wakefield Avenue, has not been arrested.

Police say that in November and December, Harman repeatedly made withdrawals from ATMs operated by Ecash. Harman was a former employee of the company, court records state.

He would use his brother’s ATM card and an administrative code from Ecash to change the denomination of the bills the computer believed were being dispensed from $20 to $1 in order to get excess money. The machine would dispense 40 bills for a $40 withdrawal, a total of $800. Harman would correct the settings after making a withdrawal, records state.

In total, Harman took $43,000, court records state.

Charge in failure to install flooring

A Fort Wayne man faces a formal theft charge after he was hired to install a hardwood floor and instead ran off with the money rendered for the service, according to Allen County Superior Court records filed Monday.

Kenneth Keever, 42, of the 10800 block of Patrician Place, has not been arrested.

In January, Keever was contracted by a city man to install a hardwood floor. Keever, operating under the company name American Interior and Design, was paid $4,600 for the service – which he never rendered, court records state.

27 drug charges for alleged dealer

A Fort Wayne man faces 27 preliminary drug charges following his arrest last week for dealing drugs near Bloomingdale Elementary School, according to Allen County Superior Court records filed Friday.

Richard Jett IV, 39, of the 1400 block of Wells Street, is being held in lieu of $132,000 bail.

Police say Jett committed drug crimes in January and May. In January, a police confidential informant purchased one-eighth ounce of cocaine from Jett near Bloomingdale school, court records state. Then, during a traffic stop in May, he was found with a cooler filled with cocaine-making materials, court records state.

Jett told police a group of men offered to pay him $200 to dispose of the cooler. During a search of Jett’s car and home, police found more than 350 prescription pills, court records state.

His preliminary charges total 27 counts and include possession of controlled substances, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

Alleged gunman charged in robbery

A man faces preliminary charges in connection with the shooting of a woman in the stomach earlier this month, according to Allen Superior Court records filed Friday.

Daurrell Figgs, 19, of the 1000 block of Milton Street, is charged with two counts each of robbery and criminal confinement, along with one count each of aggravated battery and battery. He was being held in lieu of $60,000 bail.

On Sept. 1, a wounded woman arrived at Fort Wayne Fire Station No. 11 at Lafayette Street and Rudisill Boulevard. Jessica Simon had been shot in the stomach during a robbery outside 3920 Avondale Drive, police said.

Simon’s sister told police two men stole their purses while the women were in a parked car.

During the robbery, Simon was shot by one of the men. A family member of Figgs’ came forward a few days after the shooting and identified Figgs as the shooter, court records state.
