Arts update

AT THE LIBRARY:

•The Aboite branch, 5630 Coventry Lane, has “Art for Homeschoolers” at 2 p.m. Thursdays for ages 6 to 11.

•The Grabill branch, 13521 State St., has “Homeschoolers Stitch School,” taught by the local Embroidery Guild at 2 p.m. Thursday.

•The Pontiac branch, 2215 S. Hanna St., has “Sit and Stitch” knitting weekly at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

•The Woodburn branch, 4701 Indiana 101 North, has a “Yarn Lovers Gathering” weekly at 7 p.m. Thursday. The “Young Adult Scary Story Contest” runs through Oct. 12.

ART GRANTS APPROVED: Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne has approved grants to 24 regional organizations totaling $136,000. The grants were made possible through the Regional Arts Partnership of the Indiana Arts Commission, the State of Indiana’s arts agency with assistance from the Indiana General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts.

SETTLERS INC. ART CLASSES: “Celebrating Mr. Lincoln and the Civil War Era: Demonstrations, Hand Arts and History” features “Indiana at War/Remembering, Mementos, Hair Work Jewelry” at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 8. at Settlers Inc., 1424 W.
