2 charged in rape of woman with disabilities

Two Fort Wayne men are accused of participating in the gang rape of a woman with mental disabilities in June.

Christopher Lynn Ramsey, 18, of the 600 block of Spillson Avenue, and William Otis Gresham, 21, of the 900 block of Middle Street, are each charged in Allen Superior Court with rape and criminal deviate conduct. Gresham faces an additional charge of criminal confinement.

It was unclear early Friday afternoon whether the men had been arrested.

Ramsey and Gresham are accused of taking the woman with mental and physical disabilities into a weeded lot in Riverhaven and sexually assaulting her on a plywood board.

The woman suffers from cerebral palsy, cannot walk without the use of a walker and has significant mental disabilities, according to court documents.

Along with Ramsey and Gresham, two juveniles, ages 13 and 16, are alleged in court documents to have participated in the sexual assault. It is unclear at this time whether they have been charged in connection with the case.

The woman was interviewed June 26 at the Fort Wayne Sexual Assault Treatment Center and told an Allen County Police officer the men and teens forcibly removed her clothes and performed a number of sex acts on her, causing injury.

She said she repeatedly told them "no" and "tried to fight them off, but (she) can only push so hard," according to court documents.
