Nearing the end of the second period of this exhibition game, the Fort Wayne Komets and Dayton Gems are tied at 2.
It's been a relatively uneventful game.
The guys who have stood out to me are defensemen Vincent Zaore-Vanie and Matt Woodard. Both have skills sets useful at both ends of the ice.
Tyler Sims looked OK in net before he was replaced by Tim Haun midway through the second period. I'd say he gets about a B grade. It occurs to me that because Sims qualifies as a rookie, his chances of making the team are good. The Komets have to play four rookies every game.
