If you’re still pinching pennies while eating out, the folks at La Margarita feel your pain.
The eatery has lowered prices for its lunch specials. The popular two-piece lunch is $5.99 and includes any two items (such as a taco, burrito or tostada, with beef, beans, shredded pork, chicken or diced steak). It’s served with rice, beans and chips with salsa.
If your appetite is a bit smaller, the one-piece lunch (with any of the above) is $4.99. Or try the mini taco salad (beef or chicken), with rice, beans, chips and salsa for $4.99.
Those lunch specials are available for dine-in customers until 3 p.m. daily.
There are plenty of ongoing dinner specials, too, such as two beef enchiladas (or two beef and bean burritos) with rice, beans, chips and Mexican potato soup for $8.99 (dine-in only).
La Margarita is at 2713 S. Calhoun St.
Owner Leo Ochoa is already planning the annual children’s Christmas party Dec. 20. The free party is for children ages 12 and younger (and their parents).

Stock up on sweet, gooey baklava during Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church’s annual holiday bake sale.
This year, there is a change in the process: All orders must be prepaid with cash or check (payable to Philoptochos). Orders must be received by Oct. 25.
Items include sweet bread ($4), Greek cookbooks ($20), frozen cheese or spinach pites ($8 for a dozen), and the popular baklava ($12 for a pan of 20 pieces or $21 for 40 pieces).
The pickup times and dates are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 20 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 21 at the church.

Chefs Pamela Downs and Lisa Williams continue their Italian tour on Mondays, by preparing a celery root and golden potato soup that is served with roasted pears.
This week’s Italian dinner at Hartley’s also features insalata mista (a light mixed-greens salad); Ferrara-style braised pot roast with tomatoes, olives and basil served over creamy polenta; and Fulvia’s apple cream tart.
The dinners are available 5 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays in October, along with the regular menu.
The Italian dinner is $17.95; glasses of wine also are available.

Despite a change in owners, the Dash-In, 814 S. Calhoun St., still has the same lunch menu.
Partners Dustin Vice, Corey Waldron and Emily Underwood also plan to add a breakfast menu eventually. Dinner features are available on Friday and Saturday nights.
Current hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays to Thursdays, 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. Fridays and 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. Saturdays.
After the Calhoun Street construction project is finished, more evening hours and a dinner menu will be added.
Live music will be featured on weekend nights and an art exhibit will change every six weeks or so.
•The October featured sandwich at Anastasia’s Café, 5723 Coventry Lane, is barbecued pulled pork with coleslaw (on the sandwich or on the side), pickle and house beverage for $8.50. Daily soups are posted on the eatery’s Facebook page.
