Load of Ants

There were a hoarde of Mad Ants - or at least Mad Ants prospects - for most of the day Saturday at the Concordia Seminary gym when the team held its yearly open tryout.

Approximately 100 players swarmed the floor, hoping to catch the eye of first-year coach Joey Meyer, who was trying to recover from a recent surgery after having part of his colon removed.

Because there were so many, it was difficult to determine the quality of hopefuls. Former IPFW players Keno Burrows and David Carson were among the players.

Meyer expects to pare the field between 20 and 40 for Sunday's second day of tryouts.

We'll keep you posted on the survivors.
