  • A goalie guess; look at lines
Roman Will would seem to be the most likely fit to wind up in the ECHL as a goalie, but he's spent the last two seasons in the Czech Republic after an impressive junior career in Moncton. If I had to guess, it would be him.
  • K's sign 2 forwards
The Komets finalized the signing of forward Thomas Frazee, who had 24 goals and 47 points in 60 games last season for Quad City of the CHL, and also announced that they have added forward Brett Beebe to the roster.
  • Looks almost official
Center Thomas Frazee posted on his twitter account he will play for the Komets this season.

Updated team rankings

I have updated my rankings of the International Hockey League, after an exhaustive dissection of every roster in the seven-team circuit.

Or, something like that.

1) Port Huron: I like the upgrades that the Icehawks made on offense, including the additions of Cory Stillman and Mike Kinnie. Still a fine defensive team, too. Will the goaltending be good enough?

2) Fort Wayne: Strong in every department, I think the pivotal player will be Leo Thomas, who must compensate for the loss of Mathieu Curadeau. The Komets will make a run again.

3) Muskegon: Terrific offense, as it has been for years. And the defense looks to be better than last season. I like the addition of Jason Lawmaster. But, as was the case last season, I think the Lumberjacks can be thrown off their game.

4) Dayton: John Marks is an excellent coach, and he's brought in players he knows and likes. Ryan Mior will be a good goalie.

5) Flint: Really solid nucleus with former NHL players such as Pascal Rheaume. Generals fans should be excited about what's been done in a short amount of time. But I don't see the depth.

6) Quad City: Same here, not enough depth. But the Mallards will score, thanks to guys like Jean Desrochers and Chris Lipsett. Iffy on defense.

7) Bloomington: The PrairieThunder will be tougher. It will have better goaltending. Still, not enough offense.

  • I had heard this might be happening, and indeed it has: Brendan Savage is back covering the IHL for The Flint Journal. Welcome back, Brendan. Although, it's been almost a day and he hasn't come out with a Top 10 reasons for why he thinks the Komets suck. What's the world coming to?
  • There is no hockey in my household and this is why: Click here. I don't know who to hate most out of this. Comcast is greedy. DirecTV could lose my business over this. And it's further proof that commissioner Gary Bettman's decision to put the NHL on Versus should have gotten him fired eons ago. Anyone else glum over this situation?
