  • Komets strike back
READING, Pa. -- The Komets and Reading Royals are tied at 1 after two periods at Santander Arena in the opening game of the best-of-seven Eastern Conference quarterfinals.
  • Komets down 1-0
READING, Pa. -- It wasn't a bad first period for the Komets at Santander Arena. They skated hard. Hit more than usual. But it wasn't a great one either.
  • Whew, I'm here
READING, Pa. -- Whew, it wasn't easy, but I'm at Santander Arena. Apparently, there are many buildings with the Santander name here and hotels, including mine, think that one is where the hockey team plays.

No new cuts

The Fort Wayne Komets made no cuts today, and general manager David Franke said this evening that they may not come until Thursday.

Franke was rather vague about how many players must go. The Komets have 23 players on the roster and must have an active roster of 20 by their season opener Friday at Dayton, Ohio.

We know David Hukalo will be on injured reserve with a shoulder injury, so it would seem that two players must go. However, I'm getting the impression the Komets might stash someone else on IR. Coach Al Sims remarked earlier in the week that Brandon Warner's ribs remain a concern, so maybe it would be him.

Regardless, here are the players I think are on the bubble: Vince Laise, Jimmy Bonneau, Matt Woodard, Bobby Phillips and Kaleigh Schrock.
