DAYTON, Ohio --The fans are trickling into Hara Arena and, so far, most of them are fans of the Fort Wayne Komets.
The Dayton Gems were wise to have their first game against the Komets because Fort Wayne fans always travel well for a season opener. If the Komet faithful like the building, they'll be back.
I like Hara. It's nothing extravagant, but it's got some ambiance about it. Or, it should. I'll know more once they drop the puck.
So do that already. Drop that puck.
Although, something I noticed right off the bat here are Hara Arena, other than all the Komets fans who made the trip: I think my car has a better sound system.
At least for once, my eardrums won't be ringing when I leave a building. You can hardly hear the music here.
- I've had some people ask me why this story was written now. No, I haven't heard anything about the Komets moving or anything. It's simple: 10-year anniversary of the move from AAA hockey. I wanted a retrospective.
- Remember, I will be tweeting from the game. You can follow on the front of Ice Chips or at www.twitter.com/jgkomets.
- There was lot of movement on IHL rosters today. Try to make sense of this and of this. Paul Costanzo of the Port Huron Times-Herald tries to make sense of it: Click here.
