Notre Dame senior left tackle Paul Duncan, or Paul Emmett Duncan III – which will be explained in the final question, answered the five questions this week.
Let me know if you want the replaced question to return and who you want to answer the questions. And if you have a suggestion for what I should ask the athletes, let me know by e-mail at tkrausz@jg.net.
Q: If you could trade places with one of your teammates, which one would you trade places with?
A: Obviously, people would say quarterback or wide receiver. I don't know, I would probably want to play linebacker. That just seems like a man's position. You got to be able move to drop back to protect against passes, but you also got to step up and face linemen. (Of course, Duncan pointed out that linebacker isn't a more manly position than offensive lineman.)
Q: What do you do better than anybody else on your team?
A: (Senior linebacker) Scott Smith says I relax better than anybody he's ever seen. I take that as a compliment. Sometimes you just got to be able to get away, relax, you know, calm yourself down. That's what allows you to come back and fight another day.
Q: If you could have superpower, what superpower would you want?
A: I would like to be able to fly. I'd love to be able to fly. It just seems amazing, just being up there. I love heights and being in tall places. You can't beat it.
Q: Who do you hangout with the most on the team?
A: I probably hang out with (senior safety) Kyle McCarthy. I room with (senior linebacker) Scott Smith. The offensive linemen, I obviously hangout with them a lot. We always hangout, we got (senior receiver) Robby Parris and (senior defensive lineman) John Ryan, you know a bunch of guys. We always hangout.
Q: What is one thing that people should know about you that they don't?
A: One thing that's not on the program, that I wish was there, is that I'm the third. I was named after my grandfather and my dad. My grandfather is Paul Emmett Duncan. My dad is Paul Emmett Duncan Jr., and I'm the third. I'm very proud to be named after my grandfather and dad.
