I plan to track this, not only because we have written so much about the Kalamazoo Wings and Wings Stadium (formerly known as Memorial Coliseum North) through the years, but also because I think it will help prove that the level of play between the IHL and the mighty ECHL is comparable.
I know this to be true, already. But why not get more evidence for the detractors.
The Wings, who have no fewer than 11 former IHL players, are 3-0-0 in their first ECHL season. Former Komet Mathieu Curadeau has one goal and three points, and Sean O'Connor has one goal and two points.
Meanwhile, former Komets player Jamie Milam, who plays for Toledo, is second in the league with two goals and five points.
It's early, but still interesting.
- Not sure about the use of nicknames -- "Hammer" and "Big Diesel"-- because who exactly penned them? Anyway, click here to read a story from our friend Craig DeVrieze on the Quad City Mallards' quest for a new enforcer. I hear Tommy Bolduc is available.
- Wow, here's a shocker. Apparently, conditions were cold at Perani Arena last weekend. Click here.
- The Bloomington PrairieThunder waived Jan Jas and his immigration issues to make room for Jamie Carroll.
- I take issue with this poll because it omitted Joe Kastelic, once the all-time leading goal scorer in minor hockey. But this poll is just offensive. How did salmon not win?
- The real news out of Muskegon, though, is the retirement of No. 15, in honor of Jock Callander.
- Seen this? Amazing, and it made me want to dig up: this clip.
