Verbatim: Flu cancel Halloween fair at hospital

Statement issued by DeKalb Memorial Hospital:

DeKalb Memorial Hospital, Auburn Fire & Police departments and DeKalb EMS have made a decision to cancel this year's healthy Halloween Fair, which was scheduled for Tuesday, October 27th at the DeKalb County Fairgrounds.

Due to the high proportion of flu so many are experiencing in our area, it was decided that this preventive action is in the best interest of the community and believe this is the most responsible thing to do from a public health perspective to help lessen the spread of the flu.

Since the Healthy Halloween fair goal is to enjoy Halloween in a way that is fun, safe and healthy for children, postponing this event until next year was prudent.

DeKalb Memorial Hospital, auburn fire & police departments and DeKalb EMS appreciate your understanding and wish you a healthy and happy Halloween!
