Star heads to ‘Law & Order,’ ‘Modern Family’

“Law & Order” will welcome an old friend back into the 27th Precinct.

Benjamin Bratt, who played Detective Rey Curtis on the NBC series from 1995 to 1999 (and earned an Emmy nod for his work in his final season), will reprise his role in an episode this season, NBC says. The episode will feature him reuniting with his former boss, Lt. Anita Van Buren (S. Epatha Merkerson).

NBC hasn’t set an airdate for the episode.

“I am thrilled that Ben is coming back for a return appearance,” “Law & Order” creator Dick Wolf says. “He joined us for our recent 20th anniversary celebration and it was like he never left.”

His “Law & Order” stint marks his second high-profile guest spot this season; he’ll also appear as Gloria’s (Sofia Vergara) ex-husband on ABC’s “Modern Family,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

His latest season-long starring role, on TV’s “The Cleaner,” ended when the A&E drama was canceled last month after two seasons.
