U2 concert seen by 10 million, a YouTube record

YouTube’s webcast of a U2 concert Sunday in Pasadena, Calif., was watched by nearly 10 million people worldwide, the video site’s largest streaming event ever.

The full 2 1/2 -hour show is available on YouTube. The rebroadcast video has been watched by nearly 1.1 million viewers.

Bullet a mystery

New Jersey police are trying to determine who fired a bullet that hit CNN commentator Lou Dobbs’ home as his wife stood nearby.

Sgt. Stephen Jones says Dobbs’ wife and driver were outside the home Oct. 5 when they heard the gunshot. Jones says the bullet didn’t penetrate the siding.

Dobbs mentioned the bullet this week on CNN and his radio show, adding he’d been receiving threatening phone calls for weeks.

It is small-game hunting season, but no hunters were seen in the area.

Sister heads to TV

“(500) Days of Summer” star Zooey Deschanel will join her big sister Emily on the Fox series “Bones.” The episode, airing Dec. 10, will mark the first time Emily and Zooey have appeared together onscreen.

In the episode, Zooey will play Margaret Whitesell, a distant relative of her sister’s character, Temperence Brennan. Brennan’s dad (Ryan O’Neal) comes into contact with Margaret and asks her to spend Christmas with him and Brennan.

Let there be light!

Madonna has promised electricity to a village in Malawi, the impoverished south African country where she runs a charity organization and from which she has adopted two children.

Speaking in Mphandula, the singer said: “I know you work in darkness. I will bring you electricity.”

Madonna’s Raising Malawi charity has donated $500,000 for a child care center in the village that feeds and educates 3,000 orphaned children.

Comic gets series

Comedy Central regular Nick Swardson has received his own sketch comedy series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The weekly, half-hour sketch show will premiere next year and includes digital shorts, man-on-the-street segments and animation inspired by Swardson’s online character, “Gay Robot.”

“I’m very excited to be working with Comedy Central,” Swardson said. “They are great people who understand me creatively. They also are very good looking.”

‘Trauma’ gets cut

NBC has decided not to order any more episodes of its freshman medical drama “Trauma,” said to be the network’s priciest new fall series, although it will finish producing the rest of its original 13-episode order.

The shows will continue to air on Mondays.

This week’s episode of “Trauma” was seen by 5.8 million viewers but attracted only 4 percent of the available viewers in the important demographic of 18- to 49-year-olds, a big drop from lead-in “Heroes.”

4th child on the way

Mark Wahlberg is expecting his fourth child with wife Rhea Durham.

“I’m having another girl,” Wahlberg, 38, told People magazine. “So I’ll have two girls and two boys.

“I’m the youngest of nine, and my dad has a few others. No, four is enough,” he said. “We were all raised with a lot of love. But we didn’t get the kind of attention I think that we all needed. … My mission in life is to raise my kids right. With all the success I’ve had in the world, if I fail at that, my life means nothing.”

‘SYTYCD’ star soars

Stephen “tWitch” Boss, runner-up on Season 4 of “So You Think You Can Dance,” has been cast in the dance flick “Stomp the Yard 2: Homecoming.”

tWitch will play Taz, the antagonist, in the film, out next year.

He’ll also appear in “Step Up 3D,” due in theaters in August 2010.
