IPFW gets $12 million med facility

A new Medical Education Center at IPFW provides numerous new opportunities for students.

The 42,000-square-foot building allows students in Indiana University’s School of Medicine to attend their third and fourth years on the campus of Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne. It also allows for more physicians to be trained in Fort Wayne with the hope of their remaining in the city.

And more students will be able to take advantage of the program.

IPFW, IU and Purdue officials gathered Friday to dedicate the $12 million building, which features classrooms with state-of-the-art technology, research and office facilities for 14 faculty members, and four patient-examination rooms for teaching.

The building was paid for by a General Assembly appropriation. Construction began in 2007.
