No injuries in garage blaze

No one was injured Sunday morning in a garage fire on the city’s northeast side, according to Fort Wayne firefighters.

The blaze was reported just after 6 a.m. Sunday at 2526 Curdes Ave. There, a home’s detached garage was engulfed in flames. The fire was brought under control in about 12 minutes, firefighters said. No one was inside the garage at the time and no injuries were reported.

The garage sustained heavy water and smoke damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Allen County home damaged in blaze

The basement of a rural Allen County home sustained heavy fire damage Saturday after, according to Huntertown firefighters.

The fire was reported just before 10 a.m. Saturday at 12203 U.S. 33 in the northwest part of the county. The single-story home sustained extensive damage to the basement and smoke damage throughout the living space, firefighters said. A Churubusco firefighter suffered a minor ankle injury, and an occupant of the home suffered a minor injury.

All of the home’s occupants escaped before firefighters arrived. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
