Allen County home damaged in blaze

The basement of a rural Allen County home sustained heavy fire damage Saturday afternoon, according to Huntertown firefighters.

The fire was reported just before 10 a.m. Saturday at 12203 U.S. 33 in the northwest part of the county. The single-story home sustained extensive damage to the basement and smoke damage throughout the living space, firefighters said. A Churubusco firefighter suffered a minor ankle injury, and an occupant of the home suffered a minor injury.

All of the home's occupants escaped before firefighters arrived. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
