Frantic finish

Last year's 27-21 victory over Navy is a better memory than Notre Dame's 2007 loss to the Midshipmen that ended the Irish's 43-game winning streak in the series.

But that's not to say 2008 didn't have some hectic moments.

After building a 27-7 lead early in the fourth quarter, Navy scored two touchdowns in the last 99 seconds to make it a game.

"I was on the sideline joking around with everybody," nose tackle Ian Williams said. "I had taken off my gloves, my tape and everything. All the sudden, 'Ones back up.' I was like, 'Oh, what? I have to find my helmet. Where's my helmet?' Navy ended up scoring."

Williams described the frantic finish as scary, but he hopes to be able to relax on the sideline this Saturday.

"I'm still hoping to take my gloves off at least by the third quarter," Williams said.
