I know I am supposed to write about players from northeast Indiana. But give me a moment to praise a player from Marion.
In No. 4 Eastbrook's 34-0 win over defending Class 3A state champion Bellmont, Panther senior linebacker Caleb Hemmick was simply outstanding.
Along with getting his first career interception in the end zone to stymie a Braves' scoring chance, Hemmick seemed to make every big tackle for Eastbrook (12-0).
From stopping 6-foot, 222-pound Bellmont fullback Daniel Meyer on a big fourth-down run or chasing Brave speedster Nick Hall, 5-10, 165, Hemmick was there for the Panthers.
"Caleb Hemmick played out of his mind tonight," Eastbrook coach Jeff Adamson said. "He played a great game. We try to keep him freed up like that because we know he is capable of making those plays. He was really dialed in tonight."
