If I told someone I was willing to pay all their bills, what would they be most likely to do?
Probably say, Whats the catch?
But if I allayed their fears – they can keep what they have, they dont need to change their situation, and I dont want them to do anything to help out – they might well go along with it. Hey, free money!
And then if I came to them and told them their house was too big and they needed to live in a smaller house in order to have their bills paid, they might go along with it.
If I told them they needed to drive less, or I wasnt going to be able to keep covering their expenses, they might park the car more often.
If I sighed and said they should get used to hamburger instead of steak, cheaper wine or none, and no more desserts, it might still be worth it to them.
And when I had them eating what I wanted them to eat, living where I wanted them to live and staying home instead of going where they wanted to go, they would have lost their basic liberties, and I would be a slave owner.
Well, I couldnt sell them, but if they were so dependent on me that they did what I say, against their preferences, does the distinction matter? If I am a slave owner, I am not in it to sell them, but to have them serve me. I am in it for the power over their lives.
Health care reform is basically a road to slavery, with genuine power over life and death. The government wants to pay your health care bills, using money taxed away from anyone who has it, and then they want to dictate to everyone how to live healthily so as to minimize costs. They are open to cutting services as well.
This means you will be paying taxes to support a system that enslaves you and will not necessarily cover you when you need it.
Would you buy a policy from a private company that didnt actually cover you? It doesnt matter because the House and Senate versions of Obamacare require everyone to be part of the scheme – just not necessarily the part that actually gets any health care.
And they have yet to explain why we cant spend 20 percent or even 50 percent of gross domestic product on health care if we want. Its our money, not theirs. Why cant an individual spend what he or she thinks health care is worth?
As priceless as good health care is, it doesnt begin to compare with liberty. No one ever dies to get better health care, but they do to get more freedom.
Tell your congressmen and senators to vote no on health care reform. Tort reform and getting insurance choices can be done at the state level by revising what coverage the state insists on.
Just say no to health care insurance reform at the federal level. There is no situation so dire that the government cannot make it worse.
