Crean's take on setting the pace

Indiana had 20 fast-break points in the 95-67 win against Saint Joseph's College. Four players reached double figures, led by Maurice Creek's 16.

"We envisioned it with Jeremiah Rivers. We saw flashes of that last year," IU coach Tom Crean said. "…When Jeremiah Rivers is playing at that speed, when these guys are getting out and playing in that way, it's showing a sign of things to come. I want recruits to be able to see that.

"…Are we going to have to win some games 60-59? Yes. But when we can learn to play at a fast pace, that's going to help us. We knew were recruiting for speed, for versatility, for more athleticism. But if guys aren't smart and tough, you're going to get limited real fast. That's what we're going to find out. How smart can we be under pressure? As the competition level raises up, how tough can we be day-in-and-day-out?"
