COVINGTON, Ind. – The former superintendent of a western Indiana school district has been charged with forgery and theft after a state audit found he misused nearly $36,000.
Fountain County prosecutors on Tuesday filed the felony charges against Nate Evans, who was the top administrator of the Covington Community schools for eight years before resigning in February.
Chief deputy prosecutor Mark McGrady said Evans’ actions included charging the purchase of a washer and dryer to the district’s building corporation, but putting them in his home.
Evans could not be located for comment. A home telephone number for him in Covington was disconnected.
