Check fraud alleged; losses exceed $17,700

A Fort Wayne man faces 14 charges after he wrote checks for money he didn’t have in his account, according to Allen Superior Court records filed Tuesday.

Terry Finney, 21, of the 1000 block of West Coliseum Boulevard, is charged with 12 counts of check fraud and two counts of attempted check fraud. He was being held in lieu of $35,000 bail.

Court records alleged that Finney made purchases on two separate occasions at Stuckey Brothers, 5601 Coldwater Road, and Rogers & Hollands Jewelers, 4201 Coldwater Road, using personal checks written on a closed account, court records said.

Finney also wrote personal checks determined by police to be fraudulent to two people, court documents said.

In all, Finney wrote 42 checks from his account, totaling more than $17,700 in bad checks and bank fees, court records said.
