INDIANAPOLIS – Former Alaska governor and Republican lightning rod Sarah Palin will arrive in Fort Wayne on Nov. 19 and sign at least 1,000 copies of her new book, "Going Rogue," in the second stop of her nationwide book tour.
Allen County Republican Party Chairman Steve Shine said he met with a member of Palin’s advance team Tuesday and will help facilitate the visit.
Palin will arrive just before noon at Meijer, 10301 Maysville Road, and sign autographs for three hours, Shine said. She kicks off the tour the night before in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Those wanting a book signed receive a wristband after presenting a Meijier receipt for the book. Only the first 1,000 people in line with wristbands are guaranteed an autograph. If there is extra time, Palin will accommodate more people.
Shine said Palin will not give a speech of any kind and won’t pose for pictures due to time constraints.
Helping coordinate Palin’s visit next week is entirely different than handling her October 2008 visit to Fort Wayne, when she was running as the Republican vice presidential candidate, Shine said.
"It’s a world of difference between that atmosphere and this. You don’t get to enjoy anything in the middle of a tense campaign."
He expects a massive turnout for the book-signing, noting that 10,000 people listened to her speak in 2008 with thousands more turned away.
"The crowd expectation is going to be very big because of her popularity," Shine said.
