John King is replacing Lou Dobbs on CNN.

John Klein, CNN president, said that veteran reporter King will move into the 7 p.m. slot vacated by Dobbs.

King will host a show about politics beginning early next year.

That puts him in direct competition with Chris Matthews’ “Hardball” on MSNBC and Shepard Smith on Fox News Channel.

Dobbs abruptly stepped down Wednesday.

Legends will tour

Singer-songwriters James Taylor and Carole King say they will go on a long concert tour next year, recalling the first time they played at the Troubadour Club in Los Angeles in 1970. That gig was a milestone, marking King’s debut as a solo artist. Taylor had just recorded “Carolina In My Mind” and “Something in the Way She Moves.”

Both continued on to award-winning careers.

They’ve announced only seven dates, but promise more will come.

For Scorsese, filmmaking is “a holy experience,” said Vera Farmiga, a co-star in “The Departed” who announced the award Thursday.

Globes nominations come out Dec. 15.

“Wipeout” contestants undergo medical examinations before they are cleared for the show, Endemol said.
