A driver traveling the wrong direction on Interstate 69 was arrested by Branch County, Mich., deputies after a high-speed chase that began on I-69 in Steuben County on Sunday, according to the Steuben County Sheriff's Department.
George Ebling IV, 37, of Mio, Mich., was arrested on charges of resisting arrest with a vehicle and reckless driving.
The chase began about 3:50 a.m. Sunday when Steuben County police received a report of a sport utility vehicle traveling north in the southbound lane of I-69.
A deputy attempted to stop the Ford Escape, but the driver continued in the wrong lane at high speed.
Steuben County police pursued the SUV into Michigan, where the Branch County Sheriff's Department had stop sticks set up.
The driver went around the stop sticks and continued north, police said.
The SUV exited the interstate and was stopped by Branch County officers assisted by Marshall, Mich., police.
There was little traffic on the interstate during the chase, and no vehicles were struck, Steuben County police said.
Ebling was being held in the Branch County Jail.
Police will send charges to the Steuben County prosecutor for his review.
