He's Golden

Notre Dame receiver Golden Tate added to the list of postseason awards he is in the running for this year.

The 5-foot-11, 195-pound junior was selected a semifinalist for the Walter Camp Player of the Year award, the Walter Camp Football Foundation announced Wednesday.

Tate leads the Irish with 74 receptions for 1,172 yards, with 11 receiving touchdowns, two rushing touchdowns and one punt-return touchdown. He is five receptions and 78 yards away from breaking Notre Dame¹s single-season school record for receptions and receiving yards.

Tate has also been named a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award (top college football player) and the Biletnikoff Award (top collegiate wide receiver).

Five finalists for the Walter Camp award will be announced Dec. 2, with the winner to be announced Dec. 10.

Walter Camp semifinalists

  • Toby Gerhart, Sr., RB, Stanford, 1,395 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns;
  • Mardy Gilyard, Sr., WR, Cincinnati , averaging more than 180 all-purpose yards per game;
  • Jerry Hughes, Sr., DL, TCU, 13 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks;
  • Mark Ingram, So., RB, Alabama, 1,297 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns;
  • Case Keenum, Jr., QB, Houston, leads country with 4,194 passing yards and 31 touchdowns;
