Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis isn't just helping nurse the egos and boost the confidents of his team, which has lost its last two games.

Weis is also helping one of his former charges, Cleveland Browns quarterback Brady Quinn.

The former Irish star has had a rough go of it this season, beginning the year as a starter only to be benched for four games and now being put back in.

On Monday night against the Baltimore Ravens, Quinn went 13 for 31 for 99 yards and two interceptions in a 16-0 loss.

And after the game, Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis was not happy with Quinn. Lewis said Quinn was a cheap-artist for his low block on the Ravens' Terrell Suggs, for which Quinn was penalized in the game and received a fine Wednesday.

Quinn would not say how big the fine was, but he told the Associated Press it was "a good amount."

Weis said he is staying in contact with Quinn and trying to help the Browns quarterback keep his head up.

"We make sure that he is going to stay out of the tank, and stay ready to go and all that other stuff, because it's been a trying year," Weis said. "You know emotional highs and lows and you're in, you're out, you're back in, you know. And the team's not doing well. So, I mean – but we talk frequently.

"As a matter of fact, the Bengals were staying at our hotel the other day (in Pittsburgh). So Nedu (Chinedum Ndukwe) and we were talking about that. You know that Nedu and Brady are really close. I just told Nedu to make sure he stays on Brady and make sure he looks after him, because I am concerned about him."
