Victim of fiery crash was father of 2

Boroff

A Convoy, Ohio, man who died Monday in a crash near Woodburn was a father of two.

Jeffrey Boroff, 40, died at the scene just before 9 a.m. on State Line Road North at Slusher Road. An autopsy Tuesday revealed Boroff died of smoke inhalation and carbon monoxide poisoning.

The Ford Focus that Boroff was driving burst into flames after the car veered off the wet road, struck a ditch and overturned, Allen County police said.

A manner of death for Boroff has not yet been determined, pending further investigation, the Allen County Coroner’s Office said. Police said Monday they had few clues as to what caused the crash.

Boroff’s family said Tuesday they do not know where he was heading when the crash occurred.

Boroff had been employed for about a decade as a maintenance technician at Dolco Packaging in Decatur, said his older half brother, George Noggle of Van Wert, Ohio.

"He was always tinkering with something," he said. "(Jeffrey was) always willing to help somebody who needed a hand."

Boroff, who was born in Van Wert, enjoyed watching NASCAR races, riding his motorcycle and was a member of Cornerstone Community Church in Decatur.

"He was very caring," said his younger brother, Michael Boroff.

"He would do just about anything for anybody."

Jeffrey Boroff is survived by his wife, Julie, daughter Sandria, 16, and son Moses, 14.
