People wait in line at Woodland Mall in Kentwood, Mich., on Wednesday, just after sunrise, to get a bracelet at the Barnes & Noble that will allow them to meet Sarah Palin and get a signed copy of her book, "Going Rogue." Palin starts signing books at 6 p.m.

Some camp out all night for Palin

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Hundreds of people were lining up Wednesday at a Michigan bookstore for a chance to meet Sarah Palin as she kicked off her national book tour.

Some camped out overnight to be among the first to get wristbands Wednesday morning from the Barnes and Noble bookstore in Grand Rapids.

The orange bands will give them an opportunity to get the former Alaskan governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate to sign their copies of her new book, "Going Rogue," at a three-hour book-signing event in the evening.

The book was released Tuesday but has topped best-seller lists for weeks.

Barnes and Noble spokeswoman Maddie Hjulstrom said that for security reasons, she can't say how many people are expected at the book signing.

Locally

Fort Wayne is the second stop on her national book tour. Palin is scheduled to arrive just before noon Thursday at Meijer, 10301 Maysville Road, and sign autographs for three hours. She kicks off the tour the night before in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Those wanting a book signed receive a wristband after presenting a Meijier receipt for the book. Only the first 1,000 people in line with wristbands are guaranteed an autograph. If there is extra time, Palin will accommodate more people.

Palin is not scheduled to give a speech of any kind and will not have time to pose for pictures.
