Medical copters honored

Mayor Tom Henry on Wednesday honored the 20th anniversary of Parkview Hospital’s helicopter service by proclaiming it Parkview Samaritan Day. The emergency transport service began Nov. 18, 1989, in Fort Wayne, with a second helicopter starting a year later in Rochester.

They each serve a 100-mile radius from their home bases and, combined, have transported more than 16,000 area residents.
