Journal Gazette City reporter Benjamin Lanka is at the Maysville Road Meijer store covering former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin’s book signing. These are some of his observations as of noon today:
There were more than 1,000 people in line waiting to get a Sarah Palin autograph. Despite the large crowd, people were cordial and patient. Meijer staff was busy passing out cookies and drinks for those waiting in line.
The appearance didn’t seem to be affecting other business at the store. The only inconvenience for those shopping for groceries was the fact that the parking lot was full. Palin is inside an enclosed area in the store and cannot be seen by those outside the store.
In addition to Palin’s appearance, the crowd seems to be excited about the presence of Entertainment Tonight among many other national media shows and outlets. There is also plenty of security.
