Victim, 85, fights car thief

A Hicksville, Ohio, woman tried to fend off another woman more than 60 years her junior during a carjacking Tuesday.

The thief got away with the 85-year-old’s 1995 Oldsmobile Intrigue, but not before she got a detailed description of her attacker.

“She just felt she wasn’t going to go along with it,” Hicksville Police Chief Laura L. Szabo said of the victim.

Authorities said the robber waited for the driver as she went into First Place Bank in Hicksville about 2:15 p.m. When she left to get into her car, the young woman climbed into the passenger seat, police said.

She then threatened the older woman, saying she had a knife, and told her to drive, police said. Instead of driving to the location her assailant gave her, she drove around the block to the Hicksville Municipal Building and stopped.

The two then struggled for the car keys and the older woman suffered minor injuries. She escaped the car and the robber took off, police said.

The robber is described as 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-5, in her early 20s, white, with a small build, brown hair and brown eyes. The maroon four-door Intrigue is still missing.
