Notre Dame enters its final home game of the season with no margin for error.
The Irish have yet to win in November and don't let Connecticut's 4-5 record fool you, the Huskies are tough. UConn has lost its games by a combined 15 points.
Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis turned the duty of getting the team mentally ready to play over to his players this week. Weis said the staff concentrated on the game plan while the captains, leadership committee and seniors talked to the team after each practice about what it means to play at Notre Dame and the meaning of this game.
Weis said one of his big regrets at Notre Dame was last year's loss to Syracuse on Senior Day, and the coach and players will be doing everything they can to make sure the 33 fourth- and fifth-year players get to take a victory lap around Notre Dame Stadium after today's game.
The Irish (6-4) should take that lap today.
But Notre Dame will need to come out to a fast start. The players will be hyped up for their final home game and the best way to calm nerves is to take a big lead.
The Irish have been great in the final quarter, but they need to be great in the first quarter today.
If Notre Dame comes out clicking to start the game, the Irish have a chance to blowout Huskies.
But by the way the season has gone for both teams, today's game will probably be close but Notre Dame will come out on top.
Predicted score: Notre Dame 35, Connecticut 28
