Defense comes through for Knights

Rensselaer Central came into Friday’s Class 2A semistate averaging 31 points per game. Bishop Luers shut them down en route to a 52-21 victory. The last two touchdowns came late in the second half. The Knights took a 42-7 lead into halftime. Bishop Luers intercepted two passes and recovered two fumbles.

“They had a lot of speed on their side,” Rensselaer Central running back Justin Bohannon said. “They stopped the line at first, in the first half. They jammed them up, which caused the running holes not to be there. They just had quickness on us (Friday).”
